Hotel Kleopatra

I booked through your company a room here in Odessa, Ukraine named Kleopatra Hotel. This place is really bad. I have been here 3 weeks paying $15 per day and I do not have WIFI or air conditioning as advertised. The windows are broken or defective and the window blinds are torn and missing pieces. The smell from the sewer coming up through the toilet and shower drain is horrible. Today my music manager who speaks russian came to my room with me and said this room is not worth $5. She was able to get an air conditioner remote from the office/owner but the owner was rude to her. We turned on the air conditioner and it was blowing cold air (it is 82 deg. f outside and hotter inside my room. We were gone from my room for about 2 hours and when I returned the manager/owner took my remote and unplugged the air conditioner. The window in my room will not open all the way. It opens only a few inches. Mosquitoes have been biting me for weeks. There are no screens on the windows in my room and the other rooms. When I demanded tonight they return my remote they refused and slammed the door in my face. I kept calling on the phone and ringing the bell and they simply peeked out the window. I threatened to call the police and when I did that, they began yelling at me in russian which i do not speak. The lady owner had my remote in her hand and would not give it to me. She sent some rude woman into my room with a broken window handle and told me to repair the window. I refused. Finally, the owner came in and put the handle on the window without screwing it in, opened my window to allow the mosquitoes to come in and she left; slamming the door. In the 3 weeks here they have never offered to wash my clothes as they advertise and have cleaned my room only 2 times. I am miserable here and have been cheated. What can you do for me? Also, will you inform other potential visitors about this hell-hole? If I can find an apt to rent or other place I will leave tomorrow. I am a rather famous singer here in Ukraine and am really pissed off. I ask you to call the owner or mgr here and tell them they should be ashamed and to refund some of my money to me. My room number is 301.

The only thing I can praise this hotel for is its location. It's downtown, all you might need is close enough. But generally, our staying was far from pleasant: poor and dirty bathroom equipment, old and uncomfortable furniture, low general level of cleanliness and cockroaches in the room. Hope we'll never stay there again.

It is a picturesque house-hotel. Excellent Location. Cost / benefit ratio is excellent. There are steps, which is beneficial to health (unless you are unable to climb). Good atmosphere, internet ok. It is run by very nice and friendly people: Marina and her mom. A kiss for them.

We stayed at this hotel 1 night having a 2 days trip to Odessa at the middle of March, 2013. The hotel has a good location - it is in the center of the city.. but this is the only good thing I can say. First thing that was not good - we were not able to find the entry. It is inside the yard and the reception is on the 4th floor. So, that took a while before we found an administrator. And this was not really comfortable because we had to go upstairs with all the bags.. and after none opened us we went down and then they (finally) opened and called us back.. The second thing is the cheap interior. Our room (standard) had many yellow spots on foam plastic blocks that covered all the roof and walls. The luster was broken and braided with a green insulating tape.. The third thing and the main one - they have a huge trouble with water supply and none warned us about that. So, just imagine the case when you come to your room traveling 14 hours by train and go to take a shower. You just water yourself and the hot water run stops! You have -1C outside and not too hot inside; you stand wet and in soap foam and no hot water! You clean yourself from the foam, take something on you and go to the administrator to ask what is going on. But they do not know. To be fair, they fixed something and we had hot water at evening.. it was not very good head but it finally was.. but the morning was completely killed.. The fourth thing - the rooms are not clean. The fifth thing - the bed was very old and looked very cheap and dirty. The sixth thing - a water heater for whole floor was located in our room. It was noisy and beeped all the night.

This hotel will give you a great idea of how the locals live. The decor is very similar to what the average person's household would have. I found it clean, air-conditioned and great value. The location was central to everything and easy to access from the train station using the local Marshrutka. Keep in mind there are no elevators so if you have alot of luggage this may not be the place for you.
