You know that bad feeling you get when you come across some creepy person and you just know something is not right? That was what my friend and I both felt on entering the lobby of the Yesil Artvin Hotel in Erzurum. Firstly, it is quite a distance from the centre so if you don't have a car it will be a 10 minute taxi from the centre of town. We chose it because it is right beside the bus to Yusufeli, where we were headed next. But once inside, we realized the "light and fresh" comment in the review above had to be made by a hired writer. The lobby is brown and a bit dingy. The rooms were so small we honestly could not get our bags in the door without knocking things off tables. Our bags are smallish in size. The price did not seem comparable to others in much better locations. But worst of all was the creepy and disturbing smile of the receptionist who would not leave the room after taking us there. Very odd and creepy! We left immediately to find another hotel. If you are going on to Yusufeli, stay in the interesting and comfortable centre of town and take a taxi to the bus for Yusufeli.
